Topic: "Discount Usability Techniques for Documentation"

About the Event

Usability professionals often throw about phrases like "paper prototyping," "usability test," and "heuristic evaluation." Usually, though, they are talking about software and its user interface. How do these techniques apply to documentation? Scott McDaniel will talk about usability techniques as they apply specifically to online and printed documentation. He will also discuss ways to build usability into your documentation process and ways to separate documentation testing from software testing.

Don't forget your business cards for networking! We collect a business card from each attendee for a chance to win the registration fee for the Annual conference. The drawing takes place at the March meeting. The more meetings you attend, the more chances to win.

About the Speaker

Scott McDaniel has been a technical writer for five years, working for government contractors and the private sector. He has an MA in Experimental Psychology and has been interested in user-centered design since he first discovered the field through the STC. Scott is currently the Local Chapters Coordinator for the Usability SIG, and he is forming a local Usability SIG with the DC STC chapter.
