Speakesr' Handouts and Presentations

Don't forget your business cards for networking!

About the Program

Research-based web design and usability guidelines:

  • How important are they?
  • Who decided they are important?
  • Are they real or just opinion?
  • Is there evidence to show they work?
  • How strong is the evidence?

Each attendee will receive a 200 page handbook containing 183 guidelines grouped into 17 chapters addressing specific design issues. Each guideline has both a relative importance and strength of evidence rating. The background and application of each guideline is explained along with a screen shot showing its application.

This handbook has just been printed and is only just now becoming available to the public. Be one of the first to get it.

About the Speakers

Sanjay J. Koyani is the project manager for the Guidelines Project and heads the Web Design and Usability Section for the National Cancer Institute's Communication Technologies Branch — the people in charge of Usability.gov, the first usability portal in the Federal government. A particular focus for Sanjay is research on the most effective approaches for designing Web sites for different audiences.

Dr. Robert W. Bailey conceived the Guidelines Project and has been the lead consultant guiding its development from its inception. With a Ph.D. degree in human performance psychology, Dr. Bailey has over 35 years of experience in the issues related to usability, user experience, human factors, and user interface design.
