About the Event
THE RULES
Your boss walks into your office and says, "This manual you wrote is excellent. We're taking the product into Germany, France and Japan, so find out what it will take to get it into those languages." You should be not only flattered by your boss' praise, but also enthusiastic about taking your work product worldwide. Instead…you're daunted. "I don't know how to do this," you think. "I grok the products and document them. I don't know the rules for localizing my work to different markets."
Don't miss this presentation for four basic rules. You'll learn:
- which phone calls to make first
- how to prepare your work for translation
- how to select a translation partner
- what to do with the international versions of your documentation
- how to keep costs down
THE TOOLS
As a technical documentation professional, you'll also want to know how the gears mesh and the wheels turn. You'll see a walkthrough of translation tools—the kind that will ensure your documentation remains consistent across languages and versions—and learn how they can help keep your costs down. Plus, see a 60-page user guide become miraculously transformed from a listing of translated sentences to a finished document in 15 (count 'em!) seconds.
