About the Event
We are often encouraged to choose and do work that is defined mostly by others. The approach in this program starts with what is important to you. It provides a process for comparing your present work with your own criteria for satisfaction as well as suggestions for using what you learn to shape work "in your own image." This program will help you find tools and ideas for working independently and with others to improve the quality of your life.
About the Speaker
A career and life management consultant since 1983, Dr. Ruth Schimel has had thousands of clients dealing with transitions at all different stages of their work lives. She has served her community in many capacities including as a diplomat, professor, human resources expert, and management consultant.
Dr. Schimel received a B.S. in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University, an M.A. with concentrations in public administration, personnel and behavioral science, and a Ph.D. in public administration, personnel /manpower development and gerontology (the latter two degrees were from George Washington University).
Dr. Schimel has had several well-known management consulting clients such as American University, Sallie Mae, Peace Corps, and the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Fees and Registration
Admission Fees
Admission fees help to offset the costs of our programs. Fees may vary from program to program because of the costs of food and beverages, room rental, and other services. Our attendees pay slightly different fees depending on whether they are members, nonmembers, students, chapter volunteers, or walk-ins. We also sometimes offer a program-only option for programs that are not held in restaurants.
Chapter volunteers who are working at an event (e.g., staffing the registration table, greeting newcomers) are entitled to free admission for the event. Volunteers for each event are normally pre-determined before the registration process begins. We do not accept last-minute volunteers unless we have an unanticipated need for extra help.
