About the Speakers
Carolyn Kelley Klinger

Carolyn Kelley Klinger served as the President of the Washington, DC chapter from 2001 to 2003. She was the chapter's Secretary, 2nd Vice President and Competition Committee Manager, and 1st Vice President and Program Committee Manager for one year each prior to serving as President. She as the chapter's interim Treasurer while a permanent Treasurer was sought in 2004-2005. She is currently serving as the chapter's interim Membership Committee Manager.
She is proud of the many awards she has helped the chapter earn. These include an Award of Distinction in the 2000 Chapter Public Relations Competition, a Chapter of Excellence Award in 2001, and an Award of Excellence in the 2002 Chapter Public Relations Competition. Under her leadership, the chapter's membership count increased by more than 21% between June 2001 and March 2002.
A technical writer with a Master's degree in Geography, Carolyn is employed by EMC Documentum in Rockville, MD.
Kathy Bine

Kathy Bine is an award-winning developer of Internet, electronic, and printed user information products, primarily for government clients. In her 15 years of experience, she has designed websites and HTML-based user information systems for software that is served over the Internet. Kathy evaluates software and Web-based applications for compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards, and has conducted usability evaluations. She has developed context-sensitive online help for software systems developed in HTML, Oracle, Lotus Notes, Visual Basic, Visual Objects, C and C++.
Her portfolio includes system documentation, user manuals, quick references and technical reference manuals. She has developed training materials and implemented orientation and training sessions for software products. Kathy has produced CD-ROM information products. Her clients include the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Transportation (FHWA and FTA), U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Freddie Mac, and the National Research Council.
Kathy has taught at George Washington University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Graduate School, and has presented at professional conferences, including the STC conference. She was secretary of the Washington DC chapter of STC in 2003-2004. Kathy joined STC in 1999.

- Woodgrilled Ribeye Steak Frites
- A 12oz. cut topped with a mushroom balsamic butter and served with our fresh-cut fries.
- Woodgrilled Nordic salmon
- Flown in fresh from Bergen, Norway; served over buttermilk mashed potatoes, with grilled asparagus; finished with our mimosa vinaigrette
- Jamaican Jerk Chicken Breast
- A boneless chicken breast coated with a spicy-sweet guava scotch bonnet glaze and pineapple salsa, served with cilantro rice
- Vegetarian Portabella Taco Platter
- Grilled Portabella mushrooms, peppers and onions served with flour tortillas cilantro rice, sour cream, and pico de gallo.
Fees
The registration fee is to cover the cost of food and refreshments.
