Tales From Frustrated Job Seekers
Do any of these tales of woe sound familiar?
- None of the jobs on the Internet or in the paper match my background.
- Hiring managers keep telling me that I am over-qualified.
- I send my resume to companies and never hear anything.
- The interview process does not seem to go anywhere.
- Will I have to wait until the economy improves before I can get a job?
If so, join us on December 7th at the EggSpectation restaurant in downtown Silver Spring. Lisa Wiley-Parker will be sharing some of her secrets for navigating this challenging job market.
The presentation will focus on the following:
- Discovering positions not currently in newspapers or on the Internet.
- Identifying your transferable skills so you don't look over or under qualified.
- Managing the job application process so you are more likely to hear back from employers.
- Standing out in interviews to increase your chance for a second interview or a job offer.
About the Speaker
Mrs. Lisa Wiley-Parker is a Managing Director at ProStaff Finance & Accounting. During the last nine years she has recruited financial executives in Detroit, Dallas and now in Baltimore. She earned a B.S. from Michigan State University and is actively involved in the American Business Women's Association. Lisa is proud of the strong ethical values she learned while growing up in a small town in Michigan. She integrates these values with the lessons she has learned helping job hunters in the big city. She enjoys interacting with her audiences and she makes looking for a job fun.
