The College Park - U. of MD station is located approximately one mile from campus. UMUC is on the far end of campus from the Metro station. You may choose to ride the free Shuttle-UM bus , walk, or take a taxi to UMUC at the corner of University Boulevard and Adelphi Road.
Visiting scholars, family members, or event attendees without a university ID may request a letter of permission to ride Shuttle-UM routes or use Shuttle-UM services that do require a UMD ID. A letter on DOTS l etterhead will serve as a temporary identification and must be shown to the bus driver upon boarding. Visitors may contact the DOTS office in person or by phone at 301-314-7179 during business hours to request a letter of permission. There is a fee associated with riding Shuttle-UM as a nonaffiliate. Applicable fees must be paid in person to the DOTS office before a permission letter will be issued.

From Baltimore:
Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD-295) South to Washington. Take the exit towards MD-193/Greenbelt/NASA Goddard. Keep left at the fork in the ramp. Turn left onto Southway. Turn right onto MD-193 W/Greenbelt RD. Stay straight to go onto MD-193 W/University Blvd. At Adelphi Road, make a U-turn onto University Boulevard (Route 193 East) and go about 100 feet to enter the UMUC parking garage on your right. From the garage's lower level, enter the Inn and Conference Center (the building is on your right).
From Alexandria, Virginia on the Beltway (Route 495 outer loop):
Take the Beltway toward Baltimore. Take Exit 25B (U.S. Route 1 South). Take Route 193 West (University Boulevard). At Adelphi Road, make a U-turn onto University Boulevard (Route 193 East) and go about 100 feet to enter the UMUC parking garage on your right. From the garage level, enter the Inn and Conference Center (the building is on your right).
From Falls Church, Virginia and Rockville, Maryland on the Beltway (Route 495 inner loop):
Take the Beltway (I-495 East) towards Silver Spring to Exit 28, New Hampshire Avenue South. Turn left at the 2nd light onto Adelphi Road (you'll see a green highway sign in the medium for the University of Maryland and the National Archives before the turn). Continue down Adelphi Road about 1.5 miles going through the intersections with Riggs Road and Metzerott Road. After you cross Metzerott Road. After you cross Metzerott Road, the National Archives will be on your left just past the trees and the high power lines. Continue to Route 193, University Boulevard. Turn left onto University Boulevard and go about 100 feet to enter the UMUC parking garage on your right. From the garage's lower level, enter the Inn and Conference Center (the building is on your right).
From Union Station, Washington, DC:
The University is 12 miles from the center of downtown Washington, D.C. Drive north on North Capital Street about 2 miles to Michigan Avenue (just past the reservoir. Washington Hospital Center is to your left and Catholic U. to your right). Turn right onto Michigan Avenue. Continue going northeast on Michigan Avenue about 2.3 miles. As you cross the District line, Michigan Avenue becomes Queens Chapel Road. Continue on Queens Chapel for a little over 2.2 miles (stay in right/middle lane for the first mile till you get past Hamilton Street) to the intersections of Queens Chapel Road, Adelphi Road, and East West Highway. Turn left (the middle fork) onto Adelphi Road go north for about 1 mile to University Boulevard (Route 193). Turn right onto University Boulevard and go about 100 feet to enter the UMUC parking garage on your right. From the garage level, enter the Inn and Conference Center (the building is on your right).
Parking
Park in the adjacent garage at the hourly rate (posted at the entrance). The garage is accessible from either east-bound University Boulevard or from Campus Drive off Adelphi Road. Parking is approximately $2.

Parking in Metro lots

Where to Buy a SmarTrip Card
You may purchase SmarTrip cards online from the SmarTrip Store.
Standard SmarTrip Farecard
A renewable SmarTrip farecard purchased online has a $20 fare value already on it. The cost for the renewable card is $5. The total charge for this card is $25 online.
Senior and Disabled SmarTrip Farecard
In order to purchase a discounted farecard, Senior citizens (65 and older) and persons with disabilities must have proof of age or a valid Metro Disability ID Card. For information on how to apply, see https://www.wmata.com/service/accessibility/metro-access/eligibility.cfm. Senior citizens 65 years or older with a disability and Medicare card holders with a valid photo ID are not required to apply for the Metro Disability ID card, but may purchase fare by showing proof of age at any Metro Sales location, many public libraries in the District of Columbia, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County, and retail outlets. Applications for the free WMATA Disabled ID card are available from the Office of ADA Programs at 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001 or by calling 202-962-1245 or TTY 202-628-8973 or calling 202-962-1558 or TTY 202-962-2033 and requesting an application be mailed to you. A renewable SmarTrip farecard for senior (65 and older) and disabled riders purchased online has a $10 fare value already on it. The cost for the renewable card is $5. The total charge for this card is $15 online.
SmarTrip cards may also be purchased from vending machines in Metro stations but come with a lower initial fare value: $5 for the card with a $5 fare value for a total of $10 for the standard farecard. A separate vending machine allows you to add fare value up to $300 to the card.
