From the Beltway at Rte. 50 (best way from north, Montgomery Co area):
Take Rte. 50 East towards the Bay Bridge. About 11 miles from the Beltway, exit to the right onto Rte. 424 S, Davidsonville Rd, toward Davidsonville. In 3 miles, you come to the first traffic light at Rte. 214/Central Ave.; go straight. In 2 miles, you come to a T; turn right onto Rte. 2. Get into the left-turn lane as soon as it is safe. Take the first left onto Mill Swamp Rd. In 2 miles, you come to a stop sign; turn right onto Rte. 468/Muddy Creek Rd. Go ~8.5 miles into Shady Side. Shortly after passing the fire house on the left, you come to a yellow No Outlet sign. Take a right at the Moose Family Center onto Snug Harbor Rd. Go ¾ mile, past Shady Side Elementary School. Take the first left after the school onto Idlewilde Rd. Go to the end (please drive slowly) and turn left onto Winters Ave. Ours is the second house on the left, 1614 Winters Ave. [Total time about 1 hour 15 minutes]
From Beltway at Pennsylvania Ave/Rte. 4 (best way from south, Virginia area):
Go over Wilson Bridge. Stay on the Beltway for ~9 miles and exit to the right onto Pennsylvania Ave/Rte. 4 S (Exit 11). (You can also get to Rte. 4 S via Suitland Parkway if you are familiar with it.) Go 12 miles on Rte. 4 S and take the right exit marked Rte. 258/259 Bristol/Deale. Tale Rte. 258 toward Deale. In 7 miles, you come to a T; turn left onto Rte. 256. In ~2 miles, you come to another T; turn right onto Rte. 468/Shady Side Rd. Go ~3 miles into Shady Side. Shortly after passing the fire house on the left, you come to a yellow No Outlet sign. Take a right at the Moose Family Center onto Snug Harbor Rd. Go ¾ mile, past Shady Side Elementary School. Take the first left after the school onto Idlewilde Rd. Go to the end (please drive slowly) and turn left onto Winters Ave. Ours is the second house on the left, 1614 Winters Ave. [Total time about 1 hour 10 minutes]
From Downtown DC (best way from Capitol Hill):
Take Independence Ave SE toward MD. Go past RFK Stadium and over the Whitney Young Bridge. Stay on the same road. It becomes East Capitol St., then Central Ave./Rte. 214 in Prince George's County, MD. About 18 miles from the bridge, turn right onto Birdsville Rd. In 2 miles, you come to a T; turn right onto Rte. 2. Get into the left-turn lane as soon as it is safe. Take the first left onto Mill Swamp Rd. In 2 miles, you come to a stop sign; turn right onto Rte. 468/Muddy Creek Rd. Go ~8.5 miles into Shady Side. Shortly after passing the fire house on the left, you come to a yellow No Outlet sign. From College Park / Greenbelt / Beltsville, MD:
Take University Blvd. to Kenilworth Avenue / MD-201 N and take the left ramp to merge onto Kemilworth Ave. Merge onto I-495 S / I-95 S / Capital Beltway toward Andrews AFB / Richmond, VA, continue for 4 miles to take Exit 19A / US-50 toward Annapolis, MD. About 11 miles from the Beltway, exit to the right onto Rte. 424 S, Davidsonville Rd, toward Davidsonville. In 3 miles, you come to the first traffic light at Rte. 214/Central Ave.; go straight.
