By Car:

From your starting point: Driving Directions and Map.

From the West:
Take Massachusetts Avenue, K Street, or NY Avenue to 9th Street. Turn south onto 9th Street and continue on 9th Street to 901 G Street, NW. For parking, drive to H Street. Turn right onto H Street then left onto 10th Street. (See Parking information.)

From the South on I-395:
Take the exit for Massachusetts Avenue. Turn left at the top of the ramp onto Massachusetts Avenue. Turn left onto H Street. Turn south onto 9th Street and continue on 9th Street to 901 G Street, NW. For parking, continue on H Street to 10th Street. Turn left onto 10th Street. (See Parking information.)

From the East:
Take Route 50/NY Avenue (to avoid "No left turn" intersections). Turn left on 7th Street, NW. Drive to G Street and turn left onto G Street, NW. Continue on G Street to 901 G Street, NW. For parking, turn right onto H Street then left onto 10th Street. (See Parking information.)

Parking

Free parking is available in the garage below the Library. The lot opens at 9:30 a.m. but it is a good idea to arrive before 10 a.m. to make sure you get a space because it is not large.

To find the MLK garage, drive to the interesection of H and 10th Streets, NW. (H Street is two-way has the Chinese Gate in Chinatown. Tenth Street is one-way, south toward the National Mall.) Turn south onto 10th Street. Stay in the left lane to turn left onto G Place, NW. (This is really just a wide alley.) In about 100 feet on the right, there is a sign that says, "No parking before 9:30 AM". The ramp down to the garage will be on your right.

Park in the first unreserved space. Most of the spaces beyond the first part of the lot are reserved. Near the end of the garage there are just a few unreserved spaces. Unless you move the safety barrier you can not make a second round but will have to exit the garage and circle back to H Street.

There is a $10 garage on 9th Street (the street for the exit of the MLK garage) just past the library/G Street on the right.

There is a very large $5 lot just a block north of the library on 9th Street. Note that 9th Street is a one-way south street and the lot entrance is midway between New York Ave./K Street and H Street on the right.
