By Metro:
The hotel is 3 to 3 ½ blocks (about a 10-minute walk) from the Metro Center or Gallery Place/Chinatown stations. Please check back the day before the event as any changes because of Metro maintenance will then be noted. The following directions minimize walking and do not require a change from one Metro line to another.

Getting there by the Moovit App:

On the Green and Yellow lines to the Gallery Place/Chinatown station:
- If you are coming from the north, ride in a car near the rear of the train. Take 7th and H Street exit toward the rear of your train.
- If you are coming from the south, ride in a car near the front of the train. Take 7th and H Street exit toward the front of your train.
- Turn left at the top of the last escalator and cross 7th Street.
- Continue along H Street to 10th Street.
- Turn right across H Street and take the pedestrian walkway through the large surface parking lot.
- Cross New York Avenue. The Embassy Suites Hotel is the narrow 13-story brick building on this corner. (9th and New York Avenue NW)
On the Red line to the Metro Center station:
- If you are coming from the direction of Bethesda, ride in a car near the front of the train. Take the 11th and G Street exit toward the front of your train.
- If you are coming from the direction of Silver Spring, ride in a car near the rear of the train. Take 11th and G Street exit toward the rear of your train
- Turn right at the top of the last escalator and cross G Street.
- Continue along 11th Street past H Street.
- Cross New York Avenue (next street) and turn right.
- The Embassy Suites Hotel is the tall narrow 13-story building at the next street. (9th Street NW)
Blue and Orange lines to the Metro Center station:
- If you are coming from the west (Virginia), ride in a car near the rear of the train. Take 12th and G Street exit toward the rear of your train.
- If you are coming from the east (Maryland), ride in a car near the front of the train. Take 12th and G Street exit toward the front of your train.
- Turn right at the top of the last escalator.
- Continue north past 12th Street. (Same direction as the traffic on this one-way street.)
- Continue along 12th Street past H Street.
- Cross New York Avenue (next street) and turn right.
- The Embassy Suites Hotel is the tall narrow 13-story building at 9th Street.
By Car:
From your starting point: Driving Directions and Map (Map courtesy of Mapquest Maps).
There is a very large surface parking lot directly across New York Avenue from the Embassy Suites Hotel. Saturday parking is just $5. After you enter the parking lot, drive to the back right corner. The rather narrow 13-story brick building is the hotel. The other buildings are concrete and glass.
Note that the entrance to the parking lot is on 9th Street—a one-way street.
There are many other routes you may take. These are designed to be the easiest directions to follow for those not greatly familiar with downtown DC.
From Howard and Montgomery County:
Travel south on I-95 to I-495-W-Capital Beltway (towards Silver Spring). There are three main routes from this point.
- Take the Beltway (I-495) to the Georgia Avenue/MD-97 south exit 31B, towards Silver Spring/Washington, DC.
- Take Georgia Avenue south into the District.
- After passing Howard University, Georgia Avenue becomes 7th Street.
- One short block past the new Convention Center, turn right onto K Street NW.
- Get into the left lane.
- Turn left at the next street (9th Street).
- Immediately get into the right lane. The parking lot entrance is one short block on the right.
- Take the Beltway (I-495) to the Connecticut Avenue/MD-185 south exit 33B, towards Chevy Chase/Kensington.
- Take Connecticut Avenue to Dupont Circle.
- Be in the right lane as you pass R Street NW so that you do NOT take the underpass beneath Dupont Circle.
- When you enter the Circle stay to the left (inner circle). This will place you onto Massachusetts Avenue NW just past the bright yellow Sun Trust building.
- After about one mile, turn right onto 9th Street NW. Stay in the right lane.
- After passing the next traffic light, the entrance to the parking lot is one short block beyond on the right.
- Take the Beltway (I-495) across the American Legion Bridge, stay to the right and take the first exit to the George Washington Parkway east toward the Cabin John Bridge.
- Continue on the George Washington Parkway from the Cabin John Bridge.
- After approx. 5.5 miles, pass under the Key Bridge.
- Take the next exit (Theodore Roosevelt Bridge), stay to the left and cross the bridge. (Don't take the split to the right onto Route 50.)
- Stay to the right and merge onto Constitution Avenue.
- Turn left onto 7th Street NW.
- After passing the Verizon Center and Chinatown, turn left onto K Street NW
- Get into the left lane.
- Turn left at the next street (9th Street).
- Immediately get into the right lane. The parking lot entrance is one short block on the right.
From Baltimore and northern Prince George's County:
- Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway or Route 50 into the District from Maryland.
- These two routes merge and become New York Avenue.
- At 7th Street NW (new Convention Center on the right) turn left.
- At the next traffic light turn right onto K Street.
- Get into the left lane.
- Turn left at the next street (9th Street).
- Immediately get into the right lane. The parking lot entrance is one short block on the right.
From southern Prince George's County:
- Take I-495 toward Virginia.
- Just before the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, take I-295 north.
- Take the South Capitol Street Bridge into DC.
- Follow the signs for I-395 north/Baltimore.
- Stay to the right in the tunnel under the National Mall.
- Take the exit for Massachusetts Avenue right after leaving the tunnel.
- Turn left onto Massachusetts Avenue.
- At 7th Street NW Massachusetts Avenue becomes K Street.
- Turn left at the next street (9th Street).
- Immediately get into the right lane. The parking lot entrance is one short block on the right.
From Virginia:
There are three main routes from this point.
- Travel north on I-95 to I-395N into Washington DC
- Take I-395 across the 14th Street Bridge.
- Get into either of the left two lanes.
- At the end of the bridge veer to the left onto 14th Street (US Route 1 north).
- Pass the National Mall and turn right onto Constitution Avenue.
- Turn left onto 7th Street NW.
- After passing the Verizon Center and Chinatown, turn left onto K Street NW
- Get into the left lane.
- Turn left at the next street (9th Street).
- Immediately get into the right lane. The parking lot entrance is one short block on the right.
- George Washington Parkway from the Cabin John Bridge.
- After approx. 5.5 miles, pass under the Key Bridge.

- Get into the left lane.
- Turn left at the next street (9th Street).
- Immediately get into the right lane. The parking lot entrance is one short block on the right.
From Washington, DC:
- Take 7th Street NW to the convention center.
- After passing the Verizon Center and Chinatown, turn left onto K Street NW
- Get into the left lane.
- Turn left at the next street (9th Street).
- Immediately get into the right lane. The parking lot entrance is one short block on the right.

On Saturdays, it is $5 to park in the parking lot across the street from the hotel (see No. 2 on the parking map).

Hotel parking is $26.00, Valet Only.
Accessible Parking: Nine (9) public parking spaces designated for vehicles displaying disability parking placards/permits or license tags are located on 9th Street:
- Three (3) spaces are located on the east side of 9th Street between Mount Vernon Place and L Street
- Three (3) spaces are located on the east side of 9th Street between L and M Streets
- Three (3) spaces are located on 7th Street at the South side of L Street
Parking signs are posted indicating that the spaces are for two-hour parking from 7:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. daily.

Parking in Metro lots

Where to Buy a SmarTrip Card
You may purchase SmarTrip cards online from the SmarTrip Store.
Standard SmarTrip Farecard
A renewable SmarTrip farecard purchased online has a $20 fare value already on it. The cost for the renewable card is $5. The total charge for this card is $25 online.
Senior and Disabled SmarTrip Farecard
In order to purchase a discounted farecard, Senior citizens (65 and older) and persons with disabilities must have proof of age or a valid Metro Disability ID Card. For information on how to apply, see https://www.wmata.com/service/accessibility/metro-access/eligibility.cfm. Senior citizens 65 years or older with a disability and Medicare card holders with a valid photo ID are not required to apply for the Metro Disability ID card, but may purchase fare by showing proof of age at any Metro Sales location, many public libraries in the District of Columbia, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County, and retail outlets. Applications for the free WMATA Disabled ID card are available from the Office of ADA Programs at 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001 or by calling 202-962-1245 or TTY 202-628-8973 or calling 202-962-1558 or TTY 202-962-2033 and requesting an application be mailed to you. A renewable SmarTrip farecard for senior (65 and older) and disabled riders purchased online has a $10 fare value already on it. The cost for the renewable card is $5. The total charge for this card is $15 online.
SmarTrip cards may also be purchased from vending machines in Metro stations but come with a lower initial fare value: $5 for the card with a $5 fare value for a total of $10 for the standard farecard. A separate vending machine allows you to add fare value up to $300 to the card.
